Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 15, 2026
Acceptance of Terms
By installing, accessing, or using Monitus, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you should not install or use the extension.
About Monitus
Monitus is a browser extension that helps users monitor selected elements on web pages and receive notifications when changes are detected. The extension is designed to assist with tracking page updates such as prices, stock availability, appointment openings, text changes, and similar user-selected web content.
No Account Required
The current version of Monitus does not require users to create an account. Core tracking data is stored locally in the user's browser extension storage, as described in our Privacy Policy.
User Responsibility
You are responsible for how you use Monitus and for the websites, pages, and elements you choose to monitor. You agree to use Monitus only for lawful purposes and in compliance with applicable laws, third-party website terms, and browser platform policies.
Third-Party Websites
Monitus interacts with websites selected by the user, but we do not own, control, or operate those third-party websites. We are not responsible for their content, availability, accuracy, security, policies, restrictions, or any changes they make to their pages, structure, access rules, or terms.
No Guarantee of Detection or Notification
Monitus is provided as a helpful monitoring tool, but we do not guarantee that every change will be detected, that notifications will always be delivered, or that checks will occur at an exact interval. Detection may be affected by browser behavior, device state, internet connectivity, website structure changes, login requirements, anti-bot systems, permissions, operating system notification settings, or other technical limitations.
No Professional Advice
Monitus does not provide financial, legal, medical, investment, purchasing, or professional advice. Any information tracked or displayed through Monitus is based on user-selected web content. You should independently verify important information before making decisions, purchases, bookings, or taking other actions.
Prohibited Use
You agree not to use Monitus to violate laws, bypass access controls, scrape or monitor websites in a way that breaches their terms, overload third-party services, collect sensitive personal information without permission, track private or confidential content without authorization, or use the extension for harmful, abusive, fraudulent, or invasive purposes.
Browser-Based Operation
The current version of Monitus operates primarily inside your browser. For monitoring purposes, Monitus may open lightweight pinned background tabs to check pages selected by the user. These tabs are used only to perform user-configured tracking tasks and may be affected by browser limitations, system resources, tab behavior, or website restrictions.
Privacy
Your use of Monitus is also governed by our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains what data is stored locally, what anonymous analytics may be collected, what permissions are used, and how background monitoring works.
Extension Permissions
Monitus requires certain browser permissions to function, including permissions for storage, notifications, active tab access, and scripting. These permissions are used to save tracking configurations, allow element selection, perform checks on pages you choose, and notify you when changes are detected.
Availability and Changes
We may update, modify, suspend, or discontinue Monitus or any part of it at any time. Features may change as the product evolves. We are not liable for any interruption, modification, or discontinuation of the extension.
Beta and MVP Status
Monitus may be offered as an early-stage, MVP, beta, or experimental product. You understand that the extension may contain bugs, limitations, incomplete features, or behavior that changes over time.
Intellectual Property
Monitus, including its name, design, interface, code, branding, and related materials, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from Monitus except as permitted by applicable law or with our written permission.
User Content and Tracked Data
You retain responsibility for the websites, elements, text, selectors, action recipes, and other tracking data you create through Monitus. You represent that you have the right to access and monitor the content you configure within the extension.
Third-Party Services
Monitus may use third-party services, such as analytics providers, to help us understand product usage and improve reliability. These services are used as described in our Privacy Policy. We are not responsible for third-party services except to the extent required by applicable law.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Monitus is provided on an 'as is' and 'as available' basis without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We do not warrant that the extension will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, accurate, reliable, or suitable for your specific needs.
Voluntary Support and Donations
Monitus may include optional links that allow users to support the development of the extension through third-party platforms such as Buy Me a Coffee. Donations are entirely voluntary and are not required to use the core functionality of Monitus unless explicitly stated otherwise. Payments and related information are processed by the applicable third-party platform, not by Monitus. We are not responsible for the availability, payment processing, refund policies, fees, privacy practices, or terms of those third-party services.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, opportunities, goodwill, or business arising from or related to your use of Monitus.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, or expenses arising from your misuse of Monitus, violation of these terms, violation of applicable laws, or infringement of third-party rights.
Termination
You may stop using Monitus at any time by uninstalling the extension. We may suspend or terminate access to Monitus if we believe you have violated these terms, misused the extension, or created legal, technical, or security risks.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the Last Updated date. Continued use of Monitus after changes become effective means you accept the updated terms.
